Dr. Terrence Tancabel

 

Dr. Terrence Tancabel lives with his wife Char in Litchfield.  They have four adult children including Dr. Katie.  He is a graduate of Concordia College Moorhead and was awarded his doctorate degree from Pacific University.  He has done post graduate work at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry.  His areas of special interest include glaucoma, anterior segment disorders, and neuro-visual rehabilitation for patients who have complications from post-concussion syndrome and traumatic brain injuries.

 

Dr. Tancabel is a member of the Minnesota and American Optometric Associations.  He is a past-president of the Minnesota Optometric Association.  He is a long time member of VOSH-Minnesota (Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity) and has participated in numerous eye care mission trips.  His community involvement includes youth hockey coach for 10 years, Kiwanis Club past president, Lions club, Chamber of Commerce board, church council, golf club board, and two terms on the Litchfield school board including two years as chairman.

 

Dr. Tancabel's hobbies include golf, softball, fishing, traveling and spending time at the lake.

Dr. Katie Tancabel

 

Dr. Katie is a proud graduate of Litchfield High School, the University of St. Thomas, and the Illinois College of Optometry.  She thoroughly enjoys all patient care but is passionate about eye care for the diabetic patient, the aging eye, and pediatrics. 

 

Dr. Katie is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Minnesota Optometric Association. She currently serves on the Minnesota Optometric Association’s Board of Trustees as President Elect.  She is a strong advocate for optometry and believes access to the best eye care is most important for her community and the state of Minnesota. She also serves on the board of directors for VOSH-Minnesota (Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity) and is an InfantSEE provider.  InfantSEE is a public health program that provides a comprehensive infant eye examination as a no-cost public service. She feels that eye and vision care are essential to a child’s quality of life.  

 

Dr. Katie and her husband, Peter, love to spend time with their three kids and she also enjoys traveling, golfing, and attending live music concerts!

Dr. Blake Kvidt

 

Dr. Kvidt grew up in Grand Forks, ND. He graduated from The University of North Dakota and then went on to attend The Ohio State University College of Optometry. 
 
Dr. Kvidt enjoys getting to know his patients and coming up with individualized treatment plans for them. He also has a special interest in dry eye disease. 
 
Dr. Kvidt is a member of the American Optometric Association and Minnesota Optometric Association.  In his free time Dr. Kvidt loves spending time with his wife and two children. He also has a passion for cooking and home roasting his own coffee.

Dr. Jim Hess

 

Dr. James Hess was born in Lake Henry, Minnesota and is a graduate of Paynesville High School, the University of Minnesota, and the Illinois College of Optometry. 
For thirty-seven years he worked at his private practice in Crystal, MN and then "retired" back to his hometown of Paynesville.


He is married to his wife Margie and has two stepsons, four grandchildren, and one great grandson.
He is very actively involved in VOSH (Volunteer Optometric Service to Humanity) and has led 48 eye care missions to foreign countries.  He is the current president of VOSH-Minnesota and has also served as president of VOSH/International.


He has been the recipient of numerous awards during his career which include: Minnesota Optometric Association Distinguished Service award, KARE11 Eleven Who Care Award, International Lions Club Melvin Jones Award, Helen Keller Award by the Minnesota Lions Eye Bank, Paynesville High School Distinguished Alumni Award, 2016 Minnesota Optometrist of the Year Award, VOSH/International Lifetime Achievement Award, and the VOSH/International Franklin Harms Society Award.
